When it comes to fandoms, people can understandably be very passionate about them. While it’s okay to have debate about certain things, some fans – take things way too far.
That seems to be the case in Minnesota, as one fan got way too angry about a game of Magic: The Gathering:
Per the Police report:
According to a press release from the St. Cloud Police Department, it happened on the 1200 block of St. Germain Street East just after midnight Friday. A 20-year-old man and 31-year-old Elija Creech got into an argument about their game of “Magic: The Gathering” at an apartment. Police say Creech hit the man in the head with a rubber mallet and then stabbed him seven times in the front, sides and back of the neck.
Creech was the one to call 911, telling the dispatcher he thought the man was going to die. First responders brought the victim to St. Cloud Hospital. His injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.
Police arrested Creech and booked him in the Benton County Jail. He’s facing charges of first and second degree assault.
Some more details about what caused the argument:
According to the St. Cloud Police Department in Minnesota, Elija Creech and his 20-year-old gaming buddy were playing the Magic: The Gatheringcard game overnight Friday when the two of them got into a heated argument (we don’t know what about, but I’m doing a head canon that Creech’s opponent did a double-strike using Blood Mist and a Bloodmad Vampire, and Creech did not care for that).
I think it’s safe to say that Creech won’t be invited to any ‘Magic: The Gathering’ get-togethers any time in the near future.
