It’s Comic Con week so let’s get started with all the comic book and film related news.
It looks like Marvel is gearing up Netflix’s The Defenders with a simple single comment off of their social media site that’s leading fans to wonder if Spider-Man might be swinging around onto the show.
Fans of Marvel’s four series (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist) have been waiting, in what seems like forever, for the show to premiere and constantly been teased with promotions up the wazoo.
And it continues with a promo website for the series, that features (prepare yourself) The New York Bulletin.
Shocking, right?! The site holds multiple news stories and videos of Marvel’s Defenders. What also is present on the site is a Facebook page, with a comment section from the Defenders official Facebook page that reads “Spider Guy?”
Are you freaking out yet?
The post links to three news stories with the caption “The City’s going to hell. #FakeNews” (topical). There are many of comments as well from fans but everyone wants to know if this is indeed a confirmation that our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man will be making an appearance on the show.
We all know that, even before the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Spider-Man is in the MCU but no immediate plans for a crossover has been announced.
Here’s to hoping that something will come up at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con that gives the idea of our hero teaming up with The Defenders at some point and time.
Just last month, however, Kevin Feige said there aren’t any current plans for the Movies and TV shows to crossover:
“Maybe someday. No plans right now. Maybe someday, but we have a lot of characters in the MCU, and one of the things that is so special about those characters on the Netflixshows is their dynamic together. They are all combining to become The Defenders later this year and are doing their own thing.”
At the end of the day, a boy or girl can still dream.
