Shazam is a DC film that we’ve heard a lot about for some time now, but nothing has really happened with it, aside from Dwayne Johnson, who plays The DCEU’s Black Adam, giving a few teases here and there.
Back in April, The Rock said the following:
“[What] we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie. We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”
According to Umberto Gonzalez, though, he won’t be in the Shazam movie at all, which is scheduled to begin production in 2018:
He is not in it.

It’s interesting, because also back in April, we reported on a rumor that Black Adam could actually be the villain in Man of Steel 2:
Firstly, Black Adam will be the main villain in Man of Steel 2. The idea was tossed around of possibly making an appearance in the sequel, even if it was only brief. This later evolved into Adam becoming the villain due to the fact WB did not feel confident in the early drafts of the Shazam script and felt as if Dwayne Johnson deserved a bigger project (may be linked to how much they’re paying him).

I guess we’ll find out soon.
