Early reports speculated that Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange would in fact be played by a ‘stand-in’ for his role in next year’s Avengers: Infinity War.
A recent social update from a member of the production already hinted that the actor was on the set in Georgia, but now we have some definitive proof that not only will we be seeing the good doctor as intended, but he’ll also be sporting some new threads. Read on to check them out.
The revelation that the Sherlock actor was on set came in the form of a tweet from fellow Sherlock actor, Robert Downey Jr. In the picture, which you can check out below, Cumberbatch is seen eating with Downey Jr as well as Hulk actor, Mark Ruffalo and Strange’s assistant Wong, played by Benedict Wong.

What’s interesting about the image is that the group appears to sat in their costumes. Whilst Ruffalo and Wong’s costume seem to be pretty much what you would expect, it definitely looks as though Strange’s costume will be getting somewhat of an upgrade.
The other thing to note is that Stark’s top appears to have a round hole in the same place that he used to have his Arc Reactor, before he had it removed at the end of Iron Man 3. Could this mean that we’ll be seeing him require one again, or could it be a flashback? We won’t know until the film comes out next year, unless it’s from Part Two of course, which means we won’t know until 2019.
Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters May 4th, 2018, but Doctor Strange can be seen next in Thor: Ragnarok when it’s released November 3rd.
