This past week, Warner Brothers released their highly anticipated superhero film, Wonder Woman, and as is the case with most recent comic book adaptations it took a much more grounded approach to bringing the character to the big screen. With the film currently rated ‘Certified Fresh’ on Rotten Tomatoes with a critic score of 94%, it seems that this was the correct course of action. But does this mean that we won’t be seeing any of the more outlandish parts of the characters comic history? Director Patty Jenkins seems hopeful we will.
In a recent interview with Yahoo! Movies, Jenkins was asked about what we may see in any future movies, most notably the characters Invisible Jet, to which the Monster director enthusiastically responded:
“The invisible jet is very important and ultimately we have to have the invisible jet, that’s a very big part of Wonder Woman.”
Recent comics have given the character the ability to fly and as such the jet has largely become obsolete, however with her appearances in both Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman seemingly proving this not to be the case, it may be sensible to give her some way of travelling the globe instead of using commercial airlines. While the Pre-Crisis version of the Jet was actually created by Diana herself, more recent iterations had it as a piece of alien technology discovered by the Amazonian Princess, something which could potentially happen in Justice League.
Jenkins wasn’t the only person who has a desire to see some of crazier aspects of the character, in the same interview Steve Trevor actor, Chris Pine revealed that he really wants to see the character’s pet Kangaroo, Jumpa, in a sequel.
He told the publication:
“We have to see that on screen, [There] absolutely [has to be] a kangaroo in the next one.”
With the film and character being so well-received it’s hard to imagine that Warner Brothers won’t be bring out a sequel in the next couple of years, so perhaps we will be seeing Invisible Jets (Okay, maybe not seeing) and Kangaroo’s on the big screen soon. In the meantime you can check out Gal Gadot’s badass heroine in Justice League when it hits theaters 17th November.
