Guess what folks? Sin City is being rebooted as a TV series -but you knew it was going to happen eventually. Frank Miller’s widely popular comic book series hit the big screen with Sin City in 2005 and Sin City: A Dame To Kill For in 2014, the latter being considered a flop. With no sign of the reboot train slowing down but only going faster, Deadline is reporting that TWC/Dimension is developing a TV version of the comics.
Producer Glen Mazzara of The Shield, The Walking Dead and Damian fame is said to be the show runner for the series and given his track record; that might be a very good sign. Also set to direct the series is Len Wiseman who worked on Underworld and shows like Fox’s Sleepy Hollow and Lucifer.
Others veterans of Hollywood who are to share producer duties will be Stephen L’ Heureux, Bob & Harvey Weinstein, and of course Frank Miller.
Just keep Miller away from the director’s chair. *COUGH THE SPIRIT COUGH*
So far, there are no reports of any networks jumping at the opportunity to bring the project to their network, but there are a few that are at least beginning to circle Sin City.
I, along with many others, think this comic book series is primed to have a home on premium channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz. The subject matter tends to be dark and very violent when it comes to its characters so putting it on ABC or anything of that level would just be ridiculous.
No date has been set for the series to start production but we’ll keep you updated whenever news drops.
