Luke Cage has had one crazy character arc, going from convict to full-fledged superhero – only to wind up in prison by the end of his show’s first season. But those bars won’t hold him for long, as footage from The Defenders reveals. Cage is clearly seen out and about with his powers.
In an interview with MCU Exchange, Luke Cage actor Mike Colter explained the pros and cons of being a hero in the open,
“It’s something that we’ll explore in the Defenders and hopefully in Season 2 of Cage which I start very soon. It’s very different. He’s out. People know what he looks like. He’s not in any kind of disguise. People know where he lives. They know where to find him so its something he has to deal with. Most superheroes don’t have to deal with that and can kind of keep it separate.”
It’s surely an interesting concept, and something we saw before in the Iron Man films. Unfortunately that series wasn’t the best representation of a hero revealing their identity, and Stark is simply able to hide behind a mansion rather than deal with his enemies.
For Cage, however, he’s stuck to wander the streets with little protection from the outside world – and it’ll be interesting to see what happens to him once the world sees his true identity.
The Defenders premieres on Netflix August 18, 2017.
