With superheroes becoming increasingly more integral to pop culture, everyone seems to be throwing them into their conversations. This includes debates between DC and Marvel fans, and now a Quantum Physicist is adding fuel to the fire. He claims that Ant-Man would in fact be able to defeat Superman.
Dr. Spiros Michalakis, a member of the California Institute of Technology, was a consultant during the production of Ant-Man. In an interview with Inverse, he had this to say about Ant-Man’s powers:
“When I was looking to inject elements of modern physics into the script, I brought up this idea that, when Ant-Man goes into the Microverse… This is a place where the nature of reality changes around you. So, when you enter the quantum realm, its different set of laws takes hold.”
He continued by explaining how Ant-Man has certain advantages once he enters the Quantum Realm.
“What Iām saying is that potentially understanding the quantum code from which curvature of space-time comes from, [Ant-Man] could manipulate to increase it or decrease it.ā Superman has, in the canon of the DC Universe, lifted 200 quintillion tons. But if Ant-Man had a way, he could crush Superman with 201 tons… Ant-Man could have created say, a black hole. Could Superman escape the black hole? Probably not. Then game over.ā
It’s certainly an interesting theory, especially hearing it backed up with so many scientific facts. It also may foreshadow how Ant-Man will help fight Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War.
Next up, however, will be Ant-Man starring in Ant-Man and The Wasp, set to hit theaters July 6, 2018
