It’s here. It’s Marvel on Fox Network. It’s from director Bryan Singer. It’s the new mutant show The Gifted and it’s kind of “meh”. Before we get into that, let’s talk a bit of news about the show.
Fox has already decided to pick up the new show for a full season run which is great news given Fox’s track record of canceling potentially good shows before the season is even done with.
To wet the whistle of people waiting for this show, a teaser has been released and it looks interesting but also kind of cheap. Even though shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow have a decent budget and the effects have looked pretty good from the jump; it’s kind of shocking that Fox hasn’t thrown as much money as they can to wow the audience and show they can compete.
Then again, it’s just a teaser and hopefully the full trailer will really show what a world of mutants is capable of.
THE GIFTED, from Marvel, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive. Written by Matt Nix (APB, “Burn Notice”), directed by Bryan Singer (the “X-Men” franchise”) and executive-produced by Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past,” “The Wolverine”), Simon Kinberg (“X-Men: Apocalypse,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”), Jeph Loeb (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”) and Jim Chory (“Marvel’s Daredevil,” “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”), the series stars Stephen Moyer (SHOTS FIRED, “True Blood”) and Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”).
