Penguins also tweet.
Earlier in the week, Josh Gad tweeted a picture of The Penguin. It led his followers to believe that he may be in talks, or even cast as The Penguin in the DCEU.
There were further claims that he is in talks as his Twitter followers seemed to showman increase in DC Entertainment people.
As all this has come to a head with the release of artwork done by BossLogic that shows Gad in profile as The Penguin. There’s also the addition of two top hat wearing penguins following Gad.

Gad is seen wearing a top hat and monocle looking like the comic book character. A subtle blend of Gad’s costume from Beauty and the Beast darkened with waistcoat and bright red cravat makes him look the part.
It is interesting to see that Gad’s Penguin appears to have black lips, which could be a subtle nod to 1992’s Batman Returns. Played by Danny DeVito, it portrayed the Penguin as a deformed half man half penguin that spewed black bile and ate raw fish.
Despite the lips, the image appears to show Gad’s Penguin closer to the comic book character than DeVito’s portrayal, and even has a look of Burgess Meredith from the 1960’s Batman TV series. Only time will tell if Josh Gad has been cast as the portly Gotham Crime boss. But from the look of this image, it would appear that he would look the part.
It’s unclear that the DCEU are in a position to have The Penguin as The main villain in an upcoming film. But as there are a number of Gotham based films in the works he could appear as a side character. He could even be set to appear as an inmate in Arkham, setting something up for a future Batman movie.
As for now, this is all speculation and could be a massive Troll from Gad himself. But, from his scene stealing performance in Beauty and the Beast, it wouldn’t be a bad casting choice. It’s unlikely he will appear in and DCEU films this year, as we’re less than a month from Wonder Woman. But he could be set for one if the many Gotham based films set for release in 2018.
Wonder Woman is set for release July 2nd, and Justice League is set for release November 17th.
