Last December, the film community was shocked by the sudden death of Princess Leia actress, Carrie Fisher. At the time, scores of fans across the world offered a tribute to the legendary star, but now, as part of the franchises official celebrations, we have a touching video showing just why she meant so much to the fans. Read on to check it out.
The video was first shown as part of the fortieth anniversary panel of Star Wars at Star Wars Celebration, currently taking place in Orlando. As well as the video, which you can see below, heartfelt tributes were also given by George Lucas, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, and the actresses daughter Billie Lourd.
The video features plenty of behind the scenes footage of the actress as well as interviews from her Star Wars co-stars, all of whom talk not only about the actress herself, but the legacy that her and her character have left behind for generations to come. They explain how the character’s determination and strength have and still influence women.
At the time of her death, the actress had completed her filming on the upcoming Star Wars – Episode VII: The Last Jedi. Let’s just hope that if the character is given a send off, it is one worthy of the actresses legacy. We’ll find out when the film is released 15th December.
