Fans have been constantly paying attention to Deadpool 2’s development in anticipation for whichever actors end up playing the new X-Men.
Zazie Beetz is one of the newest cast confirmations, as the actress is set to play X-Men hero Domino. Now fans are eager to hear who will be playing Deadpool’s notorious sidekick Cable.
It’s been one wild search, as casting choices for Cable have been popping up quite frequently. But now we can cancel out at least one of these runner ups.
It seemed like Pierce Brosnan had a shot at being the new Cable, since Deadpool and Logan actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman tweeted a picture with the actor. It seemed quite possible that they were teasing a casting announcement that he would be playing Cable.
However, while on Jimmy Kimmel, he happened to say the rumor was “not true. Nothing’s come my way yet…. I don’t lie. They know where to find me, it’s just fabricated.”
He explained the photo by saying:
“We were sitting, waiting for a plane, the three of us, and the guy said, ‘Quick, let’s get a photograph,’ and [I] jump in the middle and Mr. Reynolds said, ‘Let’s do Three Wise Monkeys.’ [We] put it out there and it went viral.”
It seems for now Michael Shannon is the only actor still in the running.
Deadpool 2 will give us “Deadpool’s time-traveling mutant partner, Cable, as well as X-Force member Domino. Members of the original film’s supporting cast are also expected to return.”
The film is set to hit theaters 2018.
