The Fast and Furious saga continues to march on strong despite now reaching its eighth entry. As one of the few franchises to get more popular as it went along, with the addition of action stars like Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson brining the series to new heights.
With Fate of The Furious now only a few weeks from release, it looks like the film is finally beginning to be seen by audiences. Star Vin Diesel surprised audiences by showing the final cut of the film. Here are some of the early reactions:
THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS is no joke. Doubles down on action, emotion, intensity, humor &, of course, family. The NYC stuff is off the chain. pic.twitter.com/K3aeviUYCf

The Fate of the Furious takes the ridiculousness of the franchise to a whole new level, yet feels very different. Should be a gigantic hit.

The Fate of the Furious is another winning entry in the franchise. Crazy, fun, and yet very different feeling. I laughed, I cried, I cheered

These early strong reactions are a welcomed surprise for me, as the trailers and ads for this film so far have not been that impressive. While it had its moments, I wasn’t a huge fan of Fast and Furious 6, while Furious 7 gets a little too much credit for audiences due to its heartfelt finale.
At the end of the day, all audiences care about with these films is the larger than life action set pieces and the likable family dynamic. My question is just how much milage does this series have left? Vin has previously hinted towards the series having three more entries after this one, but I hope that they don’t get too full of themselves. As long as they continue to spice up the formula with new actors and larger action set pieces, I am curious to see where the franchise can go.
