Star Wars: The Last Jedi debuts at the end of this year and fans are doing what they can to dig into the lore of things to come in the future. Frank Oz, the well-renowned Jim Henson co-hort in many movies involving puppet-erring, was asked about his involvement in The Last Jedi.
The interview involved the legacy of Jim Henson via Variety, but the subject was brought about later on involving the reprising of Yoda in Lucasfilm’s eighth installment. He was indeed tight-lipped about it, but didn’t confirm nor deny his involvement based on the phrasing of his response.
“I feel like I’m a prisoner at war here, and I can only give you my name, rank and serial number. To be true to the people who asked me, and they are kind of my family, I have to say I’ve been asked not to talk about it. I love Yoda. I would be happy to talk to you about it at the time they let me.”
EIC of Making Star Wars, Jason Ward, gave his commentary regarding this story and mentioned that in last April there was a rumor involving Frank Oz heading overseas to the Star Wars 8 sets at Pinewood Studios.
Ward also mentioned a few days ago regarding Rey being surrounded by lights in the form of “wisps”, possibly. This description is synonymous to an encounter found in Star War Rebels and Clone Wars. If you recall, it was in the same fashion that Yoda appeared to Ezra at a Jedi Temple in the animated series.
Since we do see a Jedi Temple with both Rey and Luke Skywalker at the end of The Force Awakens, could this encounter come to fruition and will we get to hear Frank Oz’s voice reignite on the big screen come Dec. 15?
We can only hope!
