After a long silence from Fox, it’s official, Drew Goddard is working on a script for Deadpool 2. Rumors have been bandied about regarding the casting and fans have speculated “what if” situations on who should play Cable and Domino.

Also, Movie Pilot spotted a production title for the sequel called “Love Machine”, which sounds rather apropos.
Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had been working on the sequel script, but now things have changed and the ever recognizable executive producer of Netflix’s Daredevil and The Defenders is scribing. The previous writers were a good ways into it, but gears have shifted as of now.
UPDATE: Correction, Ryan Reynolds just clarified that Reese and Wernick “are still very much writing the screenplay.”

Actor Ryan Reynolds is collaborating the new Deadpool 2 writer and it looks like they are making a concerted effort, according to Collider.
“From what I’m hearing, Ryan Reynolds and Goddard have been bunkered down, working on the script together, trying to cross the finish line and create something everyone is excited to make.”
This is a very good sign for the flick as Goddard has many names under his belt when it comes to screenwriting. He also is a big fan of comics, so this means he has his finger on the pulse of the fans.
He’s directed The Cabin the Woods whilst co-writing alongside The Avengers’ Joss Whedon. He wrote the hit movie The Martian for the big named Ridley Scott. He also scribed Cloverfield.
Goddard was also slated to direct the planned Sinister Six movie, but the Spider-Man franchise was rebooted afterwards.
“Trust me, he’s someone you want working on any movie or TV show because he’s an incredibly smart writer.”
Relax fans of Deadpool, this one looks to be a real shoe-in!
