Well, well, well – here we are again. It seems as if the news surrounding Hugh Jackman’s future on Wolverine is never ending. Although the actor has stated on many occasions that Logan would be his final outing, many fans have still clung onto the hope that he would eventually change his mind.
In recent months, it seems as if Jackman has begun to ease up a little on his decision at retiring from the role however he still seems rather content with the fact that Logan could possibly be the final time he has a serious shot at nailing the character full on. In a recent interview, Jackman talked about his thoughts on the role and whether or not he could be tempted at reprising the character again.
Luckily for many fans, it seems as if Jackman may have not turned his back completely on Wolverine just yet as he revealed whether or not this would definitely be his last outing.
Jackman revealed:
“When I had the script, I was like, ‘Yes.’ And when I was shooting the movie, yes. As I sit here today, yes. God knows how I’ll feel in three years. But right now, absolutely.”
Promising signs then for those who still hope he’ll return. He then went onto talk about his insecurities when playing his most iconic role in which he opened up about not feeling as if he had done the character justice.
“Let’s be clear, I’m not retiring. There’s been a gnawing turmoil that I hadn’t really nailed it, fully, either story or performance or whatever. Every film I’ve ever done, I’ve had that gnawing doubt. But I have it way less in this one.”
From the footage that has been released so far, it seems as if Logan will be the definitive Wolverine movie after the dismal X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the lacklustre sequel, The Wolverine. Jackman then went onto talk about the future of the character and how other actors will finally have the opportunity to play the role.
“The character will go on. Someone else will play it, for sure. (I’m fine with it), unless Daniel Day-Lewis plays him and wins the Oscar, then I might have a little problem.”
With Logan set for release on March 3rd, 2017, we could be in for a heartbreaking farewell. Although if Ryan Reynolds is able to tempt Hugh back then we could all be in store for something very special.
