Well it looks like Planet of the Apes’ Matt Reeves is in negotiations with Warner Bros. to helm the The Batman starring Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader.

Other directors were also interested in the project like Ridley Scott and Don’t Breathe’s Fede Alvarez. According to a Twitter post on Borys Kit, Reeves had “clinched it” with the studios.

Reeves will be directing the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes and has also helmed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Previous movies on his resume include Cloverfield, Let Me In, and The Pallbearer. According to Slash Film, he does have an eye for things with “action and tone.”
“He has a great eye for action and tone, with a knack for smartly grounding his blockbuster stories.”
Matt Ross was also in the running as he has had success with the 2016 film Captain Fantastic. It debuted at the Sundance Film Festival.
