It’s no secret that the upcoming Power Rangers reboot will be taking a lot of liberties with the original source material. One of these changes was in the character of Goldar, Rita Repulsa’s loyal minion who now appears to be a character made of solid gold, instead of a beast who simply wears a suit of gold armour. But now it looks as though the character will be changed in a new even more drastic way.
The drastic new look for the character was first revealed via a glimpse at the action figure. Now the infamous ‘Toy-line spoiler’ has struck again, revealing that as well as serving Repulsa as a minion, the character will also double as the characters Zord.
This revelation came via a tweet from PowerRangersNow which revealed a look at the character.

It’s reported that Repulsa will be gathering gold from various banks in order to rebuild Goldar with the purpose of acquiring the Zeo Crystal. The fact that the Ranger’s Megazord would be battling a gigantic Goldar was teased in the most recent trailer for the film. You can’t see a screenshot of the epic showdown below.
Whilst the original show did have a Megazord/Goldar throw down, this was actually the character being increased in size by Repulsa instead of being used as a suit. To give you an idea of what it looked like, you can check out a clip of the fight below.

It will disappointing if the fan-favorites character does turn out to be a mindless drone used by Elizabeth Banks’ Villain. We’ll find out for sure when Power Rangers hits theaters March 24th.
