Whilst the only game likely to be on anybody’s minds today is the recently announced Marvel/Square Enix venture, footage from another game based on a popular comic book series has surfaced although unfortunately this game was cancelled. The game in question is Sin City based on the acclaimed series of graphic novels from Frank Miller.
The footage was revealed via the site, Eurogamer, and can be seen below in all its monochromatic glory. The game itself was in development by Transmission Games and was designed to act as a prequel of sorts to the 2005 film, covering the events of the first two stories in the series. It was also intended to emulate the visual style the series was known for whilst incorporating gameplay reminiscent of Max Payne and the Arkham games.
Unfortunately the game was canned long before this vision could be realised, but from what the developers had to say about the project, it may in fact be a blessing. Apparently behind the scenes troubles were eventually what caused the game to be scrapped, with the US Publisher, Red Mile Entertainment, requesting changes which took it away from its source material including what is described by Eurogamer as a “Dance Dance Revolution style” stiptease mini-game’

Eurogamer’s anonymous source revealed:
“I think if that game had come out, people would have been disappointed. ‘What do these guys think they’re doing with Sin City, because that’s not Sin City.’ And we would have agreed with them.”
It’s a shame that the project fell through, as a Grand Theft Auto style open-world for Sin City sounds like it would be a hell of a lot of fun.
What do you think? Do you like the sound of this game? Would you like to see someone attempt one in the future? Let us know below.
