    Mary Tyler Moore Has Passed Away at Age 80

    Earlier today, the world lost one of the most influential women in comedy when it was announced that television legend, Mary Tyler Moore had past away aged 80. Known for her roles on The Dick Van Dyke Show and the Mary Tyler Moore show, the actress will surely be missed.

    The announcement was made via the actresses representative, Mara Buxbaum, who revealed:

    “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile.”

    The actress had previously suffered from diabetes, which she was diagnosed with which reportedly nearly caused her blindness back in 2014. The actress also went through a procedure to remove a brain tumour in 2012.

    Moore past away at a Connecticut hospital after being in a ‘grave condition’ for the past week. It’s reported that her family had visited her whilst she was in the hospital.

    The actress  will be mostly remembered for her role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which was on the forefront of women’s rights, with her character demanding equal pay with her male counterparts and even going onto birth control. She also received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in 1980’s Ordinary People.
