The DCEU is still in its early stages, with only three films having been released so far – Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Suicide Squad. While each of the movies have been met with mixed reviews, the film universe is nevertheless soldiering on. We have Wonder Woman and Justice League on the way this year; and in the next few years, Aquaman, Shazam, a Green Lantern reboot, Cyborg, Black Adam, and, despite her lukewarm reception in Suicide Squad, the Harley Quinn-starring Gotham City Sirens.
Sirens, as it turns out, has no shortage of actresses interested in being involved. Several names have been tossed around for the likely roles of Poison Ivy and Catwoman – everyone from Eliza Dushku to Megan Fox to Kate Beckinsale to Christina Hendricks. Margot Robbie is likely to return as Harley Quinn, but just in case she doesn’t, another actress thinks the role has her name all over it.
17 year old Harley Quinn Smith would love to play the character, even if it’s just a younger version in flashbacks. She was obviously raised on the DC psycho by her father, director Kevin Smith. Quinn has only had a handful of acting roles so far, but she’s shown herself to be a capable actress.
And while she acknowledges that the role’s availability is unlikely, she’s already told her agent, just in case:
“Before they even mentioned that she was going to get a spinoff, I talked to my agent and I was like, ‘Honestly, I know this isn’t even a project yet, but I just want you to know that when the day comes that they do start putting this into production, I need you to make sure that if there is a young Harley Quinn role, no one other than Harley Quinn plays that role.’ he was like, ‘Okayyyy………’” she laughs. “I don’t even know how long I’ve been waiting for this.”
Whether such a role will exist in the film remains to be seen, but we think if it does, Quinn deserves an audition.
What do you think about this possibility? And who else would you like to see involved in Gotham City Sirens? Tell us in the comments below!
