A big name has just been announced as joining the cast of the Han Solo spin-off film, and that is Woody Harrelson. Best known for his roles in ‘The Hunger Games’ and ‘True Detective’, Harrelson will join the already star-studded cast made up of Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Emilia Clarke.
This Han Solo spin-off film will be the second of the Anthology films after ‘Rogue One’, and depicts the character’s earlier days prior to the events of the first Star Wars film.
It is set for release in December 2018, and is going to be directed by ‘The Lego Movie’ and ’21 Jump Street’ directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller.
The two directors gave a quick statement on Harrelson’s casting.
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
Hopefully with such a talented cast and crew, this film will be able to justify its seemingly unnecessary premise. Let’s not forget the doubts people had with ‘The Lego Movie’ before its release.
