Next up on our Kickstarter spotlight series: For The Road, a horror short film based off of a story of the master of horror himself, Stephen King. Shifting away from gloomy Maine to gloomy Oregon, the film focuses on two old friends going to a doomed town to rescue a stranded family.
For The Road is an endeavor of love and art, and, if funded, will be toured through the country, one film festival at a time. The team has permission from Mr. King to adapt his short story (One For The Road, for the readers amongst you), with a single rule: it is for the art, not for profit. A noble cause, and one that only crowd-sourcing can bring to fruition.
Simon Scott, director for the film, had this quote on the project: “I had a blast adapting my favorite Stephen King short into a screenplay, and I’m really excited to see this come to life – especially the undead parts!”
Asking for a modest $6000 to fund props, equipment, and set rentals, For The Road is a project with realistic goals, a solid idea, and an experienced team. Kickstarters for films just don’t come better than this. Plus, it’s gonna have vampires and a strong, middle-aged female lead. That’s worth some money for garlic strands and crosses, right?
Deadline for the Kickstarter is January 17th. Get on it! Link to the project is right here, nerds.
