It’s previously been announced that filming on the highly anticipated Avengers: Infinity War and it’s currently Untitled Sequel is set to begin this month at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia – but it has now been reported that production is also set move to Scotland for several months.
The news of that filming would be take place in various locations in Scotland came via Scottish newspaper, The Daily Record. The site revealed that ‘Makers Disney and Marvel have agreed a deal in secret for the Avengers to assemble at a range of locations in Glasgow, Edinburgh and the Highlands.’. They also revealed that filming is expect to start in the country at the end of February and last for six months. It should be noted that it may not actually be set in Scotland – as the country has doubled for others in the past. For example, the 2013 film World War Z transformed the streets of Glasgow into Philadelphia
Interestingly enough, the site also seemingly confirmed a character to the franchise after a ten year absence. The article revealed:
“The movie’s colossal cast also includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and Josh Brolin, and Liv Tyler and Scotland’s Karen Gillan have reportedly been lined up for parts.”
Whilst it would make sense for Karen Gillan’s Nebula would appear in the film giving the characters relationship with both Thanos and the Guardians of the Galaxy who are also set to appear, Liv Tyler’s return as Betty Ross is more unexpected. The character was last seen in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, a film which wasn’t referenced in the Wider Cinematic until last years Captain America: Civil War which saw the return of William Hurt and Thunderbolt Ross. This could simply be a case of the articles writer not doing his homework or we could be seeing Banner’s squeeze make her MCU return.
Hopefully the coming months will bring forth plenty of set photos which will answer all of our questions. If not, we’ll find out when the film hits theaters May 4th, 2018.
What do you think? What do you think the filming will involve? Could we be seeing some British heroes grace the screen? Let us know below!
