In a YouTube video that was once posted in 2006 and later resurfaced, we get to see a young Carrie Fisher audition for what would become the role of Princess Leia. And, having been the audition that got her the role, you know it’s a good one.
Fisher immediately gets into the role, and doesn’t even falter at any of the crazy made up dialogue. She simply acts as Leia does in the films – which really goes to show how much of the character was simply just Carrie Fisher.
Of course, Episode 7 won’t be our last time with Leia, either. The actress is confirmed to have finished filming Episode 8 before her passing, and so we’ll have one last film with the beloved princess yet.
Check out her audition tape below:
“They don’t want to hire all of me – only about three-quarters!” Fisher said in an interview last year. “Nothing changes, it’s an appearance-driven thing. I’m in a business where the only thing that matters is weight and appearance. That is so messed up. They might as well say get younger, because that’s how easy it is.”
Unfortunately, there’s no telling how Star Wars Episode 9 will go on without her. It’ll be a strange place without her, both in the films and in the real world.
R.I.P.
