It’s with great sadness (not from just this writer but from so many others) that Carrie Fisher has passed away. Fisher, who was worldly know has Princess Leia Organa, had suffered from cardiac arrest while inflight from London to Los Angeles.
After landing she was was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Fisher was the daughter of actress Debbie Reynolds and entertainer Eddie Fisher but was also an accomplished writer as well.
Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd released a statement to PEOPLE:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.
“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly,” says Lourd. “Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
On a personal note, she had a huge effect on my life as being a strong leading woman on and off film. So much so that my own daughter was named after her. She leaves a huge legacy in cinema and on the world.
