It’s long be assumed that Richard E. Grant’s role in the upcoming Wolverine sequel, Logan, was that of classic X-Men villain Mr Sinister. However the latest image released from the film reveals that this may not be the case.
The black and white image was released to the film’s official Instagram account, and was accompanied with the caption ‘Rice’ which seemingly reveals that Grant will be portraying Dr. Zander Rice.
Which is obviously a bit of a step down from Mr Sinister.

In the comics, Dr. Rice was the scientist in charge of the project which granted X-23 her powers. Given that X-23 is expected to appear in the form of Dafne Keen’s Laura, this choice of Villain would make a lot of sense.
However with the post credit scene in X-Men: Apocalypse teasing an appearance from Mr Sinister via a reference to Nathaniel Essex, we probably shouldn’t write off an appearance to the character entirely. We do know that the ageing hero, portrayed by Hugh Jackman in his final appearance, will be squaring off against Boyd Holbrook’s cyborg mercenary Donald Pierce.
Hugh Jackman is set to don the claws for the final time when Logan hits theaters March 3rd 2017.
