Amy Schumer’s rise through the entertainment industry has been gradually snowballing in recent years and now it seems as if her transition into Hollywood may finally be cemented.
After starring a handful of indie films, Schumer then wrote and starred in the highly successful Trainwreck, which catapulted her fame to brand new heights, making her one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities.
Well it now seems that she’ll be going all plastic on us as she’s currently in talks to star in a live-action Barbie movie.
Following the formula of films like Splash, Enchanted and Big, the story is rumored to be focusing on ‘Barbie Schumer’ who is kicked out of Barbieland for not fitting the mold. Landing in the real world, her life is then set to change forever as she embarks on a wild adventure.
With the original idea and screenplay written by Hilary Winston, who’s known for writing a handful of episodes for My Name is Earl and Community as well as penning the screenplay for the upcoming The Lego Ninjago Movie, it seems as if Schumer and her sister, Kim Caramele, will be rewriting the script.
Schumer has been vocal in the past about feminism, sex and the way the media views women’s body’s so it’ll be interesting to see if any of these topics make there way into the film. Barbie has been under much scrutiny in recent years due to the unattainable body standards they set to young children, so it’s likely that Mattel’s most famous doll, which has generated over $3 billion dollars, is set for quite a ribbing.
