Only today, we saw the theory of one dedicated fan citing what the final Easter Egg in Guardians of the Galaxy really is. Recently, Heroes and Villains Fan Fest saw an appearance of some of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, who indulged a fan’s curiosity concerning their very own theory.
The fan firstly wanted to confirm whether or not James Gunn was in attendance (perhaps to avoid a brutal shut-down as received by the fan in our recent article), before diving into his well-rehearsed explanation. He impressively memorized all this:
“When Star-Lord is trying to sell the cosmic cube, the infinity stone, there’s the Ankh symbol, the symbol of the Brotherhood of the Ankh created by the In-Betweener in the comic books, which was the balance between the opposing entities the Lord Chaos and Master Order.”
After a brief silence, unphased Yondu star (Michael Rooker) says “Yeah, then what happens?”
The room fills with laughter, followed by the fan saying “Well, it obviously sets up for the Infinity War story”, to which Rooker replies “Yeah, so what?” The fan says “I was wondering if that was possibly the Easter egg?”
Rooker doesn’t offer much of a decisive answer, other than “You think so huh? Good thinking. Next!”
So it may be, but probably isn’t right. The cast (and in particular James Gunn) must be loving all of this – so can’t help but keep the speculation churning around. One can’t help but wonder if any of the cast actually know themselves, or if some of these are so obscure that Gunn, and only Gunn, knows what they are. Even so, the Brotherhood of Ankh theory doesn’t seem to be the “really big thing” (as Gunn comments) that people have failed to notice.
Gunn is actually putting $100,000 on the line. Addressing people who have suggested he is lying (again, like the tweet referred to in our previous article) about the Easter Egg, Gunn had this to say.
“Tainin Moores if there is no Easter egg I will give you a hundred thousand dollars – copy this post – I will consider it a legally binding contract – signed, James Gunn.”
Whilst it may feel that the truth about the Egg will never be uncovered, it also feels like fans are getting closer. What we can be sure about, however, is that one of three things will happen; someone will miraculously find it, Gunn will put fans out of their misery and reveal it, or he was lying all along and will have to pay $100,000.
