In the past, Marvel haven’t been all that coy about its upcoming film plans, they announced both their Phase Two and Phase Three plans early on.
However, last year they added three untitled films at the end of Phase Three, whilst many assumed that these are merely placeholder dates for future films it appears that Marvel do know what they are, but disclosing the information may reveal a bit too much in regards to the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War and its Untitled Sequel.
Speaking to the TorontoSun, Marvel Studios head honcho, Kevin Feige was asked for any details on these upcoming films, to which Feige responded:
“Where we go after Avengers; what those 2020 films are, we’re pretty sure what those are going to be… but if I tell you that, we’re getting into spoilers.”
It sounds like the film’s titles are definitely going to reveal who will be making it out of Infinity War in one piece. Could that mean we can expect some sequels to characters who were expecting to bite the bullet in Avengers: Infinity War, could we be seeing a fourth Captain America film on the cards?
In the same interview Feige also spoke a little about how they decide which characters will make the leap to the big screen, starting with their most recent hero, Doctor Strange, who was portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch in the film of the same name.
He told the site:
“But it wasn’t until after the first Avengers in 2012 that we started to chart out what the stories would be for the characters that we already introduced and what new characters we’d want to introduce and Strange was always part of that’. It certainly sounds as though there may be more characters on the cards in the near future.”
Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters May 4th 2018 with its Untitled follow up set for May 3rd 2019.
