Early Script For MARS ATTACKS Had Donald Trump As Ex-President

    By James HaddenNovember 10, 2016

For those of you who may have missed the news this morning, Donald Trump is the new President of The United States of America, and whilst this may seem surreal to some of you, the notion of the property magnate becoming the commander in chief has been floated around Hollywood since the late eighties, as an early draft from the 1995 film, Mars Attacks reveals. Read on to find out more.

The 1989 draft of Tim Burton’s Martian Invasion film was written by Alex Cox, and is currently available on his official website.

The interesting thing about this draft however is the fact that it lists Donald Trump as a former president, alongside Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and congressman Jim Wright.

Eventually the screenplay took on an entirely new draft for the final product, with the President Trump reference failing to make the cut. The role of the president eventually went to Jack Nicholson.

This isn’t the only time the possibility of Trumps presidency has come up, with an episode of The Simpsons from 2000 seeing Lisa Simpson taking over the presidency from the outgoing Trump.

What do you think? Was President Trump always on the cards? What celebrity will be running in four years? Let us know below!
