Earlier this month, Ben Affleck revealed the title of his upcoming solo Batman film to be The Batman.
He basically said that reports were definitely overblown and the actor even came out to reveal that there was no solo Batman movie happening – yet:
I just mentioned the other day, its been around for a long time that the movie, there is no Batman movie happening yet, we’re still trying to figure it out, get the script, the budget, and all that stuff, and someone said what are you calling it, and I had said like, back when we were doing, like, promoting another movie, I was like ‘well, we don’t have a name for it and now we’re just calling it The Batman or Batman movie or Batman’, and I said that and it was like ‘Affleck announces the title of his new’, and you know, you can’t, you can’t even touch it without it being, and they’re like ‘this title’s so boring’ and ‘this title sucks’.”
Then Deathstroke actor Joe Manganiello revealed that the film actually started filming soon (when he was asked about a recent health scare):
“Great, man, just getting ready to go shoot Batman in the spring.”
So the Batman film has a title, then it’s not happening and then it’s shooting in the Spring. Now we’re all caught up.
While promoting The Accountant, Ben Affleck was asked about the status of The Batman and here’s what he had to say:
Last night I spent (time) working on the script. I’m in full-on ‘trying to get it right mode’. It’s not the kind of movie that you can fail quietly at. You have to really be sure that I have something that I feel really confident about before we go forward.”
