Entertainment Weekly and Topps have just revealed a ton of new cards that give us a look brand new characters for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story!
Old Saint Nick has historically had somewhat of a monopoly on the month of Advent, but Disney’s decision to designate the Festive Period as their release window for each new Star Wars movie means that fans have something other than Turkey to look forward to.
The film is due to land on December 16th, and it’s trod somewhat of a rocky path on it’s approach. Rumors began to circulate online that the tone employed by Director Gareth Evans (Godzilla) was somewhat at odds with the Disney execs.
These rumours then intensified with the subsequent announcement by the studio of expensive reshoots. Observers began to theorise that the arrival of additional production staff could indicate that Disney were trying to make the material that Edwards had produced more family-friendly.
This was always going to be a very different film from the other trilogy entries. For starters, there shouldn’t really be any Jedi in it, what with them having been wiped out and all. It would also be the first picture not to feature the central characters of 3PO and R2D2, and had to try and tread the line in terms of the technology and weaponry on display appropriately slotting in between the two existing trilogies.
Thankfully, all those worries seem to have been well and truly put to bed with the amazing second theatrical trailer that dropped last week. It looks simply beautiful. As polished and crisp as the original trilogy, but expanding on some of George Lucas’s most famous and iconic creations.
