The marketing department behind the upcoming Logan film have been doing a pretty good job recently, with them posting a new picture from the film almost everyday.
Today’s latest photo offers up to a returning character to franchise albeit with a slightly different look.
Taking to his official Twitter, the film’s director James Mangold posted a black and white photo of Stephen Merchant’s Mutant character Caliban, who was last seen in X-Men: Apocalypse portrayed by Tómas Lemarquis. The actor himself then posted a picture on his Instagram.

Given the characters relatively minor appearance in the previous film, this change in actor isn’t likely to cause any major issues. It also makes sense to pick a somewhat more established actor if the characters role is set to be expanded. Although saying that, Fox doesn’t have the best of track records in regards to continuity.
Caliban’s role in the film is set to be as a carer to an elderly Professor X along with Hugh Jackman’s titular hero. The film itself is rumored to be an adaption of Mark Millar’s acclaimed run ‘Old Man Logan
Set in 2033, ten years after the events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan has aged over the years making the promise not to use his claws for bloody purposes and his healing factor has been weakened. But, that will change when an evil organization tries to use the rest of the mutants in the world to turn them into weapons, and Logan will need to release the Wolverine persona to prevent it.
Logan is set to slice his way into theaters March 3rd, 2017.
