Oh boy. We reported a story from io9 about an incident involving a passenger, their Marvel apparel, and the United Airlines flight that passenger Amanda Stevens was booted off because of an “uncomfortable” pilot. Well we have an update. It seems that United Airlines responded to the incident claim of wrong doing.
Statement from United Airlines:
We have reached out to Ms. Campos to discuss her concerns. Our goal is to provide safe and comfortable travel for all of our customers and we regret that Ms. Campos was unhappy with the handling of the seat assignments on her flight. United holds our employees to the highest standards of professionalism and has zero tolerance for discrimination.”
See the “Ms. Campos” part? You read that right. United Airlines contacted the wrong person by a large margin of error.
Apparently the statement made by United Airlines was from another incident two weeks prior to this. Talk about dropping the ball as Ms. Stevens has stated the obvious that “Campos” is in no way in her name.
A later update sent to io9 tells us that Ms. Stevens was eventually contacted by United Airlines:
We are in contact with Ms. Stevens to discuss this matter further. Both United and SkyWest hold our employees to the highest standards of professionalism and have zero tolerance for discrimination.”
