The highly anticipated Season 6 of FX’s American Horror Story was met with some serious doubts after Episode 1, the whole show inside of a show situation. They completely kept the show’s theme a secret the entire time it was in production, and put out a series of teasers of all different ideas. They ended up going with one of America’s oldest and strangest ghost stories ever – the story of the lost colony of Roanoke.
I’m sure by now, everyone who didn’t previously know about Roanoke and the legend has read up and became informed on the story. The entire colony just up and disappeared with the only clue left behind being “CROATOAN” carved into a tree. Now we already know the connections that this season has had to Season 1 – with the mention of Croatoan and even the couple moving across the US to relocate and start again.
We also know that there is the witch connection that links to Season 3. So where are all the other connections? In an interview recently show co-creator Ryan Murphy said:
You’ll see starting in Episode 6, the show has a huge turn and the thing that you think you’re watching is not what you’re watching.”
So what does this mean for American Horror Story Season 6? There have been many different ideas and theories circulating around the internet the past weeks about what this is going to mean. Some believe that the show inside
the show is a hoax show that suddenly turns into reality. Some think that it’s going to just take a completely different turn all together.
I’d personally expect them to revisit the aliens angle and go somewhere more in depth with that. There’s no doubt that season has taken an entirely different turn than Season 5, “HOTEL” and has a more horror feel to it. The only thing left to do is wait until next week and see what they are going to do with the rest of this season!
