Much sooner than expected, the first trailer for the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower has leaked online.
It. Is. Epic.
While some of the CGI is still unfinished, we can ignore a few blocks of green for the sake of all the awesomeness going on around them. We get our first look at Idris Elba’s Gunslinger, Roland Deschain, Matthew McConaughey’s Man in Black, their apocalyptic Western wasteland home, and even the Dark Tower itself. The beginning introduces us to young Jake Chambers, a boy who keeps having dreams of a destroyed world, a man in black who devours everything around him, and the one man who can stop him – the gunslinger. Jake is in intensive therapy, because of course everyone thinks he’s gone around the bend. But he eventually finds his way to the world in his dreams, where he meets the Gunslinger and the Man in Black face to face. There he realizes that the fate of his own world also hangs in the balance.
In addition to Elba and McConaughey, the cast also in includes Jackie Earle Haley, Kathryn Winnick, and Tom Taylor.
Directed by Nikolaj Arcel, The Dark Tower is scheduled to hit theaters on February 17th, next year.
