The solo Batman films have always had such iconic titles that never relied on numbers much, but rather a symbolic in a few words. Tim Burton with his classic Batman and follow-up Batman Returns, Joel Schumacher with cheeky Batman Forever and infamous Batman & Robin, and Christopher Nolan already made his mark outside the Batman trademark name with The Dark Knight Trilogy (though Batman Begins was the start of something for people to follow through first). Now that the game has turned to Ben Affleck, who has announced what his interpretation’s will be identified as.
Affleck has announced something more concrete with his choice of a title compared to the other one. The actor, writer and director of the upcoming DC solo film spoke to the Associated Press during his promotion of another film he’s starring in, The Accountant.
The movie I think is going to be called ‘The Batman’. At least that’s what we’re going with right now. I might change it… That’s about all I got right now. We’re working on the script, the script is going well, I’m really excited about it.”
We can give Affleck credit, the title itself sounds very definitive, much like his portrayal has been accounted for by many fans. Even if it changes or has some mixed reaction from fans, we at least have something official to call it now.
Light the signal. The Batman is coming soon.
