So everyone and their mother have heard of the Justice League by this point. Even better, by now, everyone knows there is a fully revamped and well thought out Justice League movie coming out in the near future. But…. have you heard of this thing called the Jackass League? Well hell, neither had I until the imaginative forces over at ArtSpear Entertainment released an amazing piece of mini cinema on their YouTube channel as part of their Toon Sandwich Series. Think one part Justice League meets 1.5 parts South Park. A couple weeks ago, I did an article on a similar topic put out by a different company, but this one takes the cake.
It literally has everything you would want from a parody video. I laughed, I cried, but what really hit home is the fact that I and hopefully everyone else are excited for the Justice League movie. Don’t get me wrong, the recent upcoming of the DCEU as a whole has been a bit lack luster, especially when the source material is one of the powerhouses of comic book history. In the past year, we have had both Batman vs. Superman: Dawn and Justice and Suicide Squad, both which left fans walking out the theater with that “WTF” look on their faces.
But I will say this, when ladies and gents walked out of Hall H at the San Diego Comic Con this summer, they were whistling a different tune. The preview was received well from both of those at Comic Con and those at home (like me) pouring over their keyboards. We could see the obvious change in mood from the brooding and grim feeling we got from Batman v Superman and the strange juxtaposition we received over and over and over again from Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. might have actually found their niche with the Justice League coming.
This video actually gives us some relief while we all wait with bated breath for the new Justice League movie. Everything from Bruce killing Barry’s twin brother who is also named Barry to the fact that Batman is looking for “alcoholics with excessive body art” (I mean, did Batman not get my applications? I sent it like nine times) to Wonder Woman holding one shield to rule them all.
Justice League is scheduled to be released November 17th, 2017. Suicide Squad is currently in theaters. You can pick up Batman v Superman on DVD or Blu-Ray now.
