I think most of us can agree that the live-action Resident Evil films took a sharp downturn after the first two. So, while many of us aren’t exactly waiting with bells on for the sixth (and supposedly final, but we’ll see) movie to hit theaters in January, there’s another RE release to look forward to – a new CGI film.
The two previous CGI films, Degeneration and Damnation, were surprisingly good. And personally, I think computer animation over live action is actually helpful to these movies, as they don’t feel like such a massive departure from the games.
The latest installment, Vendetta, takes place between RE6 and the upcoming RE7: Biohazard. Well-known characters from the series, including Chris Redfield, Leon Kennedy, and Rebecca Chambers, are part of the cast of characters in this new chapter of the saga that began on the original PlayStation 20 years ago.

I like the fact that most of the horror is kept hidden in this clip, being implied rather than shown directly. The beautiful opera music (I’m almost certain that’s the voice of Luciano Pavarotti) is an interesting contrast to the carnage we know is about to take place.
While an international release date hasn’t yet been announced, Vendetta is certain to be made available in the US at some point soon after its Japanese premiere, like the previous two CGI films.
Does this trailer make you excited to see the film? And are you looking forward to the next game installment? Tell us your thoughts!
