Daredevil‘s big (figuratively and physically speaking) adversary Kingpin has made quite the impact in the Netflix exclusive Daredevil series. A main antagonist in the first season and a return in the second, his presence was made all the better with actor Vincent D’Onofrio‘s fantastic portrayal of the character. However much we can assume such a great villain will return, no official confirmation has been made until now.
LRM asked the very question to D’Onofrio, which lead to his answer:
“That I can’t answer, I do know, but I can’t answer…so take that how you will.”
Of course, the vague answer followed up with something that leans in the positive for Kingpin’s future:
Jeph [Loeb, head of Marvel TV] and Charlie [Cox] and Netlfix love Kingpin, and so, Kingpin is good for Marvel’s teleivison stuff and I think they agree.”
Take into account a lot of progression and introductions to other Netflix shows though: Luke Cage, The Defenders, The Punisher spin-off, and continuing with Jessica Jones. It would definitely take a while before we get back to Daredevil again. However, despite having no contract, D’Onofrio states a well-written continuation is a guaranteed return for him regardless.
When Jeph tells me there’s something coming up and if I’m available, I’ll be there. And because it’s written so well, I’m going to show up.”
So no MCU Films. Gotcha.
