Last week we reported that Marvel was shopping around a New Warriors series that featured Speedball, Justice, Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, Night Thrasher, and Rage. That’s different enough, right? Well, this week, we’ve been given an another interesting heads up from a source close to the situation:
Marvel is developing an adaptation of Deadly Hands of Kung Fu (with a different title), an ensemble piece that will feature the Hector Ayala incarnation of the White Tiger as a key role.
For those of you who didn’t know, Deadly Hands of Kung Fu was a series first published back in the 70’s that included Shang Chi, Iron Fist and The White Tiger.
This is interesting for a number of different reasons.
Back in August, it was rumored that Marvel had filmed a pilot for The White Tiger along with 3 other unknown pilots. The difference with that report, however, is that it stated we would see the female Angela Del Toro version.
Iron Fist’s solo Netflix series is currently filming and will feature Shang Chi, so these are all characters who could potentially connect down the road. It’ll be interesting to see the direction that Marvel is planning to take them.
