I can’t speak for anyone else, but one of the things I’ve come to look forward to most on the blu-ray releases of comic book films are the special features. Casting, behind the scenes, special effects, storyboards, it’s all fascinating stuff. But the crown jewel of bonus content, without a doubt, is the gag reel.
Think about it. You have your top-notch talent, like James McAvoy, Oscar Isaac, and Michael Fassbender, all deep into a super serious scene. Then suddenly, someone falls down, flubs their line, forgets it completely, or finds any other of a myriad of excuses to drop an F-bomb and start cracking up.
Seeing the actors break character and be silly is just all kinds of hilarious. I mean, sure, it’s not exactly shocking coming from the perennially sarcastic Jennifer Lawrence, or any of the very young cast members. But your highbrow, multiple-award-nominee types, that’s another matter entirely. (As a lifelong Apocalypse fangirl, 7:15 gives me something I never knew I always needed.)
