Say what you will about Zack Snyder taking the helm with the first two DC Cinematic Universe films, the man can sure make foreshadowing very powerful.
A friend of ours pointed out this very interesting parallel in regards to Snyder’s two films, Man of Steel and it sequel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice:
The image above shows the ironic connection between the two films. Kal-El’s nightmare vision from Zod in Man of Steel midway through the film shows him sinking into the skulls of the people he swore to protect. Once Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice comes into play, we see the snippet of Superman saving the people from the fire in Mexico during the Day of the Dead festival, with the people, ironically painted with skulls on their faces (how I would prepare for a Ghost concert), crowding around the Kryptonian touching him as their god.
The symbolism is surely powerful to the fall of the “False God” not being by just the destruction of the dangers to the people he swore to protect, but also the people themselves during the events of Batman V Superman. A very bold narrative by Snyder indeed.
Another interesting parallel, come to think, would be the manner of Superman’s death in the hands of Doomsday stabbing through his chest, very similar to the first scene in Man of Steel where Zod kills Kal-El’s father Jor-El the same way. Like father, like son and like father, like…clone thing from crazy Jesse Eisenberg mother DNA to your baby. Youtuber NewSuperAvenger provides us with the on-screen comparison:
