When it comes to being positive, nobody does it better than Stan ‘The Man’ Lee. Hell, I’m pretty sure the guy would even tell you how great he thinks Fan4stic was. But it turns out there are limits to Stan’s good nature, as he recently explained at a recent convention. Read on to find out what the Marvel Legend had to say.
Whilst appearing at the recent Fan Expo in Canada which Marvel film adaption he took issue with, to which the 93 year old replied:
I was a little disappointed in the very first ‘Fantastic Four,’ because I didn’t care for how Doctor Doom was portrayed. But other than that, I thought the movie was great. And the actors were terrific.”
Yeah, take that Fox!
However, Lee couldn’t quite keep the negativity train rolling, quickly referring to his happy self by explaining:
“I believe they captured the spirit and the intent of all of the characters, and I’m delighted with how they all turned out.”
Before going on to add:
None of them have disappointed me. In fact, I think all of these movies have come out better than everybody ever thought they would…Even the early ones were good. Maybe I’m just my own biggest fan…”
He also took the opportunity to talk a little about the rumored casting of Zendaya as Peter Parkers love interest, Mary-Jane Watson. Those of you who were on the Internet at the time the news broke, may have noticed that a certain portion of the fan base was less than pleased by this controversy. On the matter, Stan revealed:
I think it’s a great idea. I wish I had thought of it. I can’t wait to see that gal, I can’t wait to see that movie, and I think the public will love it.”
What’s interesting is that he was put off by Julian McMahon’s portrayal of the classic villain in Fantastic Four, yet he seems to have no issue with Toby Kebbell’s disaster take on the character in last years Fan4stic. But hey, each to their own.
