Production of the American film adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s manga Ghost in the Shell has certainly sparked debate of their casting choices. Whether you feel uneasy or supportive of the Scarlett Johansson decision, we now have a semi-official look available.
Crunchyroll has leaked some rough images of the film in progress, specifically with members of the cast in each respective picture. Included are the ever-controversial “whitewashing” of The Major (Scarlett Johansson), Ishikawa (Lasarus Ratuere), Togusa (Chin Han), Saito (Yutaka Izumihara), Borma (Tawanda Manyimo), Batou (Pilou Asbæk), and Aramaki (Takeshi Kitano).
Chances are high-resolution shots will be available eventually, but at least for the time being, viewers can feel either confident or grow more skeptical of the appearances of their beloved characters from the photos below:
Ghost in the Shell is scheduled to be released March 31st, 2017.
