After making his explosive debut into the Marvel Cinematic Universe earlier this year in Daredevil Season 2, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher set to receive his own Spinoff on the streaming service in the near future. While no official details have been released, some recently discovered audition tapes for the show seemingly shed some light on what we can expect to see when the show hits our screens.
The tapes which were uploaded to Vimeo reveal three actors who have auditioned for the show. The first two, Gotham’s James Frain and Luis Herthum appear to be auditioning for some form of superior to Frank Castle, giving him a mission to take down Raheem Bonta. It’s been speculated that this could be either in the present day, or as part of a flashback to his history in the marines.

The third video appears to be for a second character, one important to Castle’s story namely his associate Microchip. The name given in the audition is for Dennis Landstrom, speculated to be a code name for the character whose actual name is David Linus Lieberman. The actor auditioning for this role is relatively unknown actor Peter Hulne. The character has previously been referenced twice in the MCU, the first was in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. where Chloe Bennet’s Skye references a fellow hacker named Micro whilst the second was in Daredevil, when Castle recovered a CD labelled ‘MICRO’ from his home before burning it down.

With auditions currently in full swing, it hopefully means that it won’t be long before we get some form of official confirmation. Hopefully including a date we can expect to see it on our screens. For those of you haven’t already seen it, you can check out The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2 which is currently available to stream on Netflix.
