Despite the huge marketing push featuring Jared Leto’s Joker in the all-new Suicide Squad, his screentime in the film is actually quite short and spread out to about 20 minutes give or take. Fans were disappointed, and it seems the actor was too.
During an interview with IGN, he was about his scenes being cut and whether or not this upset him:
“Were there any that didn’t get cut? I’m asking you, were there any that didn’t get cut? There were so many scenes that got cut from the movie, I couldn’t even start. I think that the Joker… we did a lot of experimentation on the set, we explored a lot. There’s so much that we shot that’s not in the film. If I die anytime soon, it’s probably likely that it’ll surface somewhere. That’s the good news about the death of an actor is all that stuff seems to come out.”
Hopefully, we’ll one day get to see the footage, sooner rather than later; but that doesn’t mean Leto’s Joker also won’t pop up again somewhere else in this ongoing DC Cinematic Universe. You can check out all of the footage that was said to be cut from the film (including non-Joker scenes).
