Last week saw the biggest event in the comic book movie calendar take place down in San Diego and as usual, many films were on hand to debut footage but there was on film which generated the most buzz on social media. Was it Justice League? Doctor Strange? Spider-Man: Homecoming?……..Snowden? Read on to find out.
According to ListenFirst, it was DC’s upcoming Suicide Squad which saw the most activity on the web, jumping from +342,000 mentions before the event to half a million over the course of the weekend. It should be noted that this doesn’t include Twitter which would likely put it much higher.
It was strangely Star Trek Beyond which came in second place with +426,000 mentions over the course of the weekend. Although a lot of this may be due to the film’s recent release in theatres. Third place was Wonder Woman +366,000 mentions while the rest of the list was then made up of Justice League, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Kong: Skull Island, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Moana.
Given that the film is now just over a week away and marketing is in full swing, I mean you can’t walk 10 feet without seeing Margot Robbie looking back at you, its likely that Comic Con wasn’t what drew the majority of the buzz, despite a new trailer being released.
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5th.
