Since the announcement that Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, would be joining the MCU, rumors have swirled around a plethora of actresses, ranging from Emily Blunt to Katee Sackhoff to UFC star Ronda Rousey.
But now, we finally have our answer. As various MCU stars gathered in Hall H for a group photo to commemorate 2016’s San Diego ComicCon, the voice of Kevin Feige came over the loudspeaker to tell the crowd that they would be joined by the newest member of the Marvel universe………drumroll please………Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson!
Larson is certainly a solid choice, having won the Academy Award for Best Actress earlier this year, for her work in the disturbing drama Room. She has experience in comedy as well – a necessity for the MCU – but this will be her first foray into action.
She becomes the 22nd Oscar nominee, and the 14th winner, to join the Marvel universe. The extremely high level of talent involved is one of the biggest reasons that the studio manages to continuously put out such amazing movies.
